I grew up in Lancaster California where I speed skated as a kid at AV Skateway and Holiday Skating Rink until I was 18. I took a few years off, then returned to skating in Spanaway Washington where I ice speed skated on the short track. When this didn’t develop into a spot on the Olympic Team, I decided that hockey was going to be the best way to spend my free time. I played hockey for several years in Washington and Texas until 2003. A few years later I discovered Roller Derby through a friend, Angelic Strict-nine who plays with Assassination City Roller Derby in Dallas, TX. Roller derby filled the gap, known as “no-hit” adult hockey, which had discouraged me from participating in athletic team activity. In 2012 I bought a pair of roller skates and relearned how to skate with the intention of becoming a Ref in the sport. At the same time, I became aware of the Dallas Deception Men’s Roller Derby, where I played for the 2013 season. At the end of 2013 my job transferred me back out to the Antelope Valley where I am today. I was lucky enough to have shown up on try-out night with the Drive-By City Rollers on the 5th of January, 2014. Within a week, I was notified that I had made the cut and now look forward to a long, fun season with a talented group of guys.
